Senior Leaders in Innovation: Have you ever wished you could lift more weight? Have you ever wished your team members could carry more weight as well?
“More weight” for your team might mean:
✅ Presenting to groups w/ more confidence
✅ Being On Point when leading meetings
✅ Nailing It When they present their innovation to your portfolio review panels internally
I was at the gym yesterday. A very large man came up and grabbed the dumbbells you see missing here. Each weighed 120 pounds.
He laid down on the bench and pushed those dumbbells up and down 10 times each. He carefully carried them back to the rack.
Actually, It was kind of awesome to behold.
I hardly ever see anyone use those weights.
it got me thinking.
How did he do that?
It’s the same thing with your team and their presentation skills. It’s building skills, and adding them – the “weight” over time – consistently.
He didn’t start with a 25-pound dumbbell and go straight to 120. He moved up gradually. He came back several times a week slowly moving up in weight he had to build a muscle.
✅ What would your team look like if they could shine in front of internal stakeholders?
✅ What if you beamed with pride and had the utmost confidence in your abilities with clients?
✅ How would that change your bottom line, your team culture, and your brand image?
Drop me one word in the comments. What muscle are you trying to build right now when it comes to your presentation skills? Which one feels like the hardest to build?
